Smudged Dress =)

Difficulty: Beginners/intermediate
Photoshop

Here we are fixing a PSD's (Jessica Simpson) Dress using the smudge tool.
Results may vary depending on the PSD's dress or outfit. But this works if you plan to use the PSD for a layout or a banner.

As seen from the picture, Jessica's dress is cut... and with the smudge tool it can be fixed.
The smudge tool icon looks like this and can be found under the eraser tool. While using the smudge tool make sure your brush is in a shape that isn't too big or too small. If the brush is too big you risk making smudging mess on her legs and dress. If the brush is too small, you will be there for a while trying to smudge her dress the way you want it. as for strength I used 50% for this PSD you can start with 50% and mess around from there.

Step 1:
Now in this image, the two circles means that we want to fix those two spots, and the ugly arrow means to move the PSD down from the middle of the page.... this doesn't apply if you done so all ready.  Now not how her dress is of pretty much the same shades with whites at the end. This makes it much easier to smudge the dress and come up with a much better result. the less amount of colors on what you want to smudge the better.

Step 2:
With the smudge tool, and its strength at 50% I started to smudge the dress on the spot I wanted fixed. As seen in the image the smudging is directed downward just on the side where the PSD had been cut off, the darker sports of the dress and the part where some of her legs were showing are kept untouched to keep the reality of the image. If you think it looks awesome to smudge the whole dress then by all means smudge the dress. but if you want results like whats shown above then only smudge the sides.

Step 4:
Heres the finishing result of smudging one side, We were lucky because the dress was of one color on the side that needed to be smudged thus resulting in a much better finish. REMEMBER to keep a steady hand and smudge down. it may make take then one click to get it right, or even just one click, it all depends on how long or how perfect you want the dress to be.

Step 5:
the smudging was repeated on the right side all done with the same bush size and strength. By using the eye drop tool you can get the different shades of her dress and turn this image into a pretty awesome layout, banner or wallpaper. It really all depends on what you want to do next.
